Circularly Polarized Metasurface-BasedHybrid Dielectric Resonator Antenna for Wireless Applications

A metasurface-based Hybrid CylindricalDielectric Resonator Antenna (HC-DRA)is proposed for getting circularlypolarized radiation at 5 GHz wireless applications. The proposed antenna contains a cylindrical DRA, amodified minkowski based metasurface, and a coaxial probe. The proposed structure improves the bandwidth and gain of thecylindrical DRA. The metasurfaceact as a reflector and the antenna radiations is confined to the surface of the dielectric resonator. In this design, a DRA is placed over the metasurfaceand by adjusting the metasurface's dimensions, the radiated field's polarization can be controlled,Which acts as a superstrate. The metasurface consistsof an array of unequal rectangular-shaped unit cells that exhibit a wideband 3-dB axialratio bandwidth of 570Hz (4.72 GHz-5.29 GHz). A6.87 dBirealized gain is obtained across the frequency range from 4.27 GHz to 5.77 GHz with a center frequency of 5GHz.
