RF Front End Combinational Filter for Airborne V/UHF Communication System

The RF front-end filter within an airborne communication system plays a crucial role in the selection of desired signals, the rejection of interference, and the preservation of signal quality. Front end filter is essential for ensuring effective and reliable communication between aircraft and ground stations, thereby enhancing safety and operational efficiency in aviation. The proposed solution involves a combination of RF front-end filters to separate various interferences, including low-pass, high-pass, and band-stop filters. This comprehensive filter design covers a wide frequency range, spanning from Very High Frequency (VHF) to Ultra-High Frequency (UHF), ranging from 30MHz to 600MHz, and incorporates a band-stop filter between 88MHz and 118MHz. This design is particularly well-suited for Software Defined Radio (SDR) receivers used in airborne applications, supporting aviation, maritime, and military communications. The design is implemented on a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) made of Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and the test results align closely with the simulation results, offering a promising solution for airborne tactical communication systems.
