Medical Imaging Using a Wideband, Conformal, Textile Antenna for Brain Tumor Detection

In this work a conformal textile antenna is designed for imaging tumor in the brain. Here, a leaf-shaped patch with shorting pins connected to a circular ring on the back side of the antenna with defected ground is made to achieve the required performance for head imaging. The put forward model operatres from 1.74 to 6.5 GHz. The device obtains a maximum gain of 3.4 dBi. The Specific Absorption rate (SAR) of the designed antenna is checked at several frequencies within the broadband of the antenna. This is done by separately designing a 7 layered head model. All the performance parameters of the put forward structure is studied from the simulator. Also multiple copies of the designed antenna are placed around the modelled head phantom for getting adequate data for imaging the embedded tumor at a later stage.
