Effect of DGS on Slotted Square Patch Antenna for 5G and LTE Applications

This paper introduces a square patch antenna designed for 5G and LTE network applications, featuring pentagon and hexagon slots at the center of the square patch. The dimensions of the proposed antenna are
$37\times 34\times 1.6\ \text{mm}^{3}$
and the dimensions of the patch are
$17\times 17\ \text{mm}^{2}$
. The proposed antenna resonates at 3.95GHz with a bandwidth of 120MHz (3.88GHz to 4GHz) with a peak gain of 5dBi. Incorporating DGS results in an improvement of bandwidth to 2.08GHz and gain to 5.4dBi, with a resonating frequency at 4.15 GHz. This antenna operates in S and C bands. Simulations are carried out using Ansys HFSS software.
