A Wearable Textile Antenna for Health Care Applications

This paper explores the utilization of diverse materials, including denim, cotton, jeans, leather, and silk, as substrates in antenna design. Specifically tailored for biomedical and healthcare applications, a novel textile antenna employing a denim substrate operates within the 2.4363GHz-2.5236GHz frequency band, centered at 2.47GHz. The antenna demonstrates a commendable gain of 6dB and an efficiency reaching approximately 65%, rendering it highly suitable for healthcare-related implementations. Utilizing the CST Tool, rigorous simulations and subsequent fabrication of the suggested antenna were conducted. The simulated reflection coefficient stands at −28dB, surpassing the benchmark of −10dB, indicative of strong performance and a robust impedance matching characteristic. Comparative analysis across the five substrates further delineates the strengths of the proposed denim-based antenna. This research lays a solid foundation for the advancement of textile-based antennas in healthcare applications, showcasing the viability and efficacy of such designs while providing valuable insights into material suitability for future innovations in this domain.
