Design of Wearable Monopole Antenna Sensor for Breast Tumor Detection

This paper describes the design of a wearable monopole antenna-array sensors for breast tumor detection. The proposed antenna-array comprises four antenna elements and each one is fed individually using micros trip feedline. The antenna is covering the -10 dB impedance bandwidth of 3.2-4.2 GHz with a resonant frequency of 3.7 GHz. To achieve, the conformal property, the proposed antenna-array has been designed on the Rogers RT5880 material of thickness 0.508 mm. The footprint of the proposed array antenna is 0.6λ

. This array has been adapted with aim to cover the complete female breast for analysis. The reflection and transmission coefficients studies have been carried out in free space and over breast equivalent phantom. The antenna shows improved intrinsic isolation in presence of tumor. The SAR has been evaluated, and it has been found that input power of 50mW is needed to maintain the SAR-safety guidelines.
