Simplified Biasing AFSS Microwave Absorber

This paper presents a dual-polarized active frequency selective surface (AFSS) based microwave absorber designed to operate in 3.4-10.56 GHz operating band. This response has been obtained with the 0.088λ

is the wavelength corresponding to the lowest -10dB operating frequency. The dual polarization has been achieved by cascading the unit cells, and it elevates the need for metallic vias to supply the biasing voltage to the NXP #BAP70-03 p-i-n diodes. The structure also shows the deep reflectance at various frequencies, which is useful in achieving a very high degree of absorption over the wide frequency band. The complete structure, its biasing arrangements, and measured results will be presented during the conference.
