Butterfly Contour Extraction Based on Video Stream

Bionic butterfly aircraft is one of important micro-aircrafts, which has attracted more attentions. Butterfly contour is very important for bionic aircraft design. Aiming at the difficulty of obtaining butterfly contour, this paper focuses on a butterfly contour extraction method based on butterfly flight video stream. There are many methods for extracting target contour. However, no general method exists for most applications. Therefore, different methods are tried to decide which ones are more appropriate. Firstly, an extraction process is proposed in this paper. Then, noise reduction is carried out by combining bilateral filtering and morphological open operation. The filtering results show that the combination of bilateral filtering and morphological opening operation is reasonable. Meanwhile, the contour extraction is discussed in detail. Combination of Sobel algorithm and maximum entropy is proposed and realizes the effective separation of butterfly target and complex background. Experiments show that the proposed image denoising and contour extraction method is reasonable and effective.
