Design and Analysis of Volumetric Antenna using SIW Technology loaded with DGS for Satellite Communication

Single band volumetric antenna loaded with Defected Ground Structure (DGS) using Substrate Integrated Waveguid e (SIW) technology is presented. With a dielectric constant of 4.4, the antenna's dimensions are 51.5 mm

and it is made of FR4 (Flame Retardant) substrate material. By varying the ground plane's lengths (Lg1 and Lg2), the HFSS antenna simulation tool analyses the reported antenna's properties. The simulation result shows gain of 5.89 dB and direction of maximum radiation 4.57 at the radiating frequency of 12.60 GHz. The projected volumetric SIW antenna structure provides a wider bandwidth of 1.75GHz. It is widely used in radio astronomy, defence systems and spacecraft in the Ku band, among other areas.
