A High-Gain Metasurface Antenna for Compact 5G Applications

This study investigates the design, creation, and implementation of a metasurface antenna (MSA) specifically engineered for 5G connectivity. The MSA is constructed in conjunction with a simple microstrip patch antenna, yielding a realized gain of 4.5 dBi. This is achieved by utilizing a substrate made of Rogers RT Duroid 5880 at a frequency of 25.8 GHz. Elevating the design further, a two-layer 4×4 order metasurface (MS) is introduced, resulting in a substantial gain enhancement to 9.91 dBi. The antenna's dimensions are specified as 0.6 λ
