Design and Optimization of SIW Cavity Filter for 14.5 GHz Applications

This paper presents a novel miniaturization technique for the SIW Cavity Filter, enabling its operation below the fundamental frequency while minimizing changes to its physical dimensions. The filter has been designed at 14.5GHz frequency with the help of Ansys HFSS and MATLAB RFPCB Toolbox ™ . The technique involves the incorporation of additional stubs at the filter's edges, along with the removal of C-shaped cavities from the patch. The study explores two configurations, vertical and horizontal, providing comprehensive illustrations of the technique's efficacy. Key advantages of this approach include the ability to electronically tune the fundamental frequency and seamless integration with a wide range of devices.
