Design and Simulation of Passive Cell Balancing Schematic for Battery Module with Eight Cells

Since the battery is the most important component of an electric vehicle, it accounts for about 30-40% of the entire cost of the vehicle. The number of series and parallel connections between the battery's cells depends on parameters such as voltage and current. In nature, battery cells with identical ratings exhibit distinct tendencies because of variations in their internal structure and manufacturing processes. There is an imbalance in the cells as a result of the variations in cell behavior. We require balancing circuitry to use the cell's capacity fully. This work employs the passive cell balancing schematic to balance the voltages, currents, and states of charge of cells coupled as banks using a combination of parallel and series assembly. Obtaining equal voltages and state of charge for each of the module's cells indicates that the balancing process is complete.
