Frequency Response Modeling and Saturation Power Improvement of Lateral-PIN Germanium Photodetectors

A frequency response model is developed for Germanium photodetector under large input optical powers. The model agrees well with the measurement results. Furthermore, a simple approach using parallel photodetection is demonstrated with ≥3-dBm saturation power.
