Research on Vulnerabilities of the Opportunistic Routing in Underwater Acoustic Sensor Networks

Underwater acoustic sensor networks (UASNs) have a widespread application in marine exploitation and surveillance. Opportunistic routing (OR) mechanism, ,in which nodes are generally location-aware, has been extensively employed in UASNs for its superiority on combating the unpredictable link interruptions. In this paper, we investigated the vulnerabilities of UASNs using OR under the location spoofing attacks. We analyzed the exposure risk of location spoofing attacks at different locations in the network, where a lower exposure risk of the malicious attack means a worse network vulnerability.
