Conception of Linear Fresnel Solar Thermal Power Plants in Algeria: A comparison of DSG and molten salt mode

This work presents a techno-economical comparative analysis of a 50 MW Linear Fresnel plants- based CSP using two generation modes (Direct steam generation and molten salt) under Algerian climates, with storage thermal energy and backup systems using System Advisor Model software. The results suggest that Linear Fresnel Solar Power Plant which uses Molten Salt as HTF with 25 % of backup system and 6 h of storage in the site of Tamanrasset is the optimal configuration, with the lowest LCOE (13.82 cent$/kWh, 319 Mio$). The backup system is the main responsible for high GHG emissions, although the integration of STE system results in reduction natural gas consumption by the plant .The water consumption is based on the generation modes and the direct normal irradiance in the selected site.
