Exploring Islamic Architecture Through Virtual Realms: A 3D Open World Simulator Game Approach for Engaging and Educating

The subject of Islamic architecture is frequently disregarded. People’s interest in studying Islamic architecture is declining because this topic may be unsightly. Since this subject demands practical investigation in order for individuals to perceive and maybe understand it, it can also be challenging to study. This study introduces a groundbreaking method for studying Islamic architecture using open-world 3D simulator games. This research explores the potential of open-world 3D simulator games as an engaging and educational platform for learning about the complexities and importance of Islamic architectural design and history. This study aims to identify any groups that lack interest or knowledge regarding Islamic Architecture while developing an educational game that focuses on Islamic Architecture. This effort is to support SDG4: Quality Education. A quantitative survey was carried out in Shah Alam, that aims to identify the level of knowledge, their interest, and opinions on using a 3D game as a learning platform. The results show many respondents are aware of Islamic Architecture in Malaysia, and they are interested in knowing more about Islamic architecture. On the other hand, most of the respondents agree that there should be an accessible medium to explore Islamic Architecture. These findings do show the need of having an accessible medium using a 3D Open-World Simulator Game so audiences can explore and expand their knowledge about Islamic Architecture.
