Enhancing Virtual Reality Education with Low-Bandwidth 360-Degree Video

Today, Virtual Reality (VR) is emerging as a technological frontier with immense potential for advancing education. Indeed, The VR software’s 360-degree video has the potential to revolutionize the future educational system by making content more engaging and accessible. Nonetheless, it poses numerous new concerns: (a) the development of algorithms for selecting a video’s bandwidth; (b) the creation of compression methods tailored to 360-degree footage. Streaming a 360-degree video, for example, has been shown to require a significant data transmission rate, perhaps 400 Mbps for High-Definition (HD) quality. Scaling, tiling, and slicing have been used, but their development has been narrowly focused on reducing bandwidth at the expense of 360-degree video quality. In order to implement these methods, the client device must also be capable of performing complex algorithms and other processes. Our project’s objective is to discover solutions to these issues without compromising the original film’s quality. This study proposes a novel technique known as Encode Transformation Filtering (ETF) to reduce the amount of data transfer required for 360-degree video. These advantages are proposed for this ETF: You may (i) use a machine learning model to predict the future viewport, (ii) use a new picture quality transformation and encoding technique to compress into a single bit frame, and (iii) use a multicast filtering scheme to reduce the bitrate by excluding area outside the Region of Interest (RoI). The proposed work seeks to reduce the required bandwidth for transmitting 360-degree videos in augmented reality applications without compromising video quality or making deployment more difficult. Low-band 360-degree video will be an ideal instrument for educators and students to enhance online learning outcomes and student motivation.
