The Intersection of Technology and Education: An Immersive Interior Design Digital Application as an Innovative Teaching Tool

These days, many individuals are experimenting with different kinds of devices since digital technology is developing so rapidly. Most inventors use this technology to provide entertainment that appeals to adults and children. Gamification is one of the techniques for integrating elements and concepts from games into non-game contexts. Concerning this, absenteeism is increasing among students who have become demotivated to return to school, due to boredom or a lack of involvement in class, and most crucially, being distracted by technology. The purpose of this study is to comprehend a game-based tool that could encourage audience participation in interior design. The aim is to contribute to achieving SDG4: Quality Education and SDG11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. The development methodology employed the Game Development Life Cycle (GDLC) which consists of five (5) phases including Idea, Game Planning, Concept design, development, and testing. Data were gathered from the audience, which included 56 students from the Final-year Diploma in Interior Design. The results indicated that utilizing gaming simulation as a teaching tool for interior design students can enhance their understanding of spatial design, showcasing the potential for exploring interior design simulation through this approach.
