RehabGame: A Hand Exoskeleton and Video Game Interface for Home Rehabilitation

Historically, rehabilitation services have been a low priority for many governments, especially those with limited investment in health, resulting in poorly coordinated and underdeveloped services [1]. This is why our project focuses on the creation of a rehabilitation interface with lower long-term cost that can be used from home, this rehabilitation interface consists of a hand exoskeleton, an electromyography module and a video game, this interface will aim to help the individual to achieve the highest level of function, independence and quality of life possible, in addition to motivate the constancy and recurrence of patients to follow the treatment by providing a convenient option at a distance, with a motivating environment that facilitates their participation in rehabilitation. This work shows the design and development process of the prototype created. Clinical Relevance– Its purpose is to facilitate the attainment of the highest level of functionality, independence, and quality of life for individuals. Furthermore, it aims to foster patients' consistency and adherence to treatment by providing a convenient remote option, with a motivating environment to actively engage in their rehabilitation.
