Circular Coils Design for Wireless Charging of Electric Vehicle: Analysis and Evaluation Study

The well-designed receive and transmit coils increase the efficiency of the wireless charging system for electric vehicles. It has been found that adjusting their size, alignment, and amount of turns can enhance performance. This study analyzes the mutual inductance and magnetic field distribution using the finite element approach in order to determine the relationship between the number of turns of two circular spiral coils with various alignment axes. The new design has been validated by simulation results.
