SDG 4 Progression through Mobile Learning:An Exploratory Study of Indian HEIs

Mobile learning(M-Learning) has emerged as a powerful tool, bridging gaps in accessibility, enhancing the quality of education, promoting lifelong learning, fostering sustainability and innovation, and facilitating efficient monitoring and assessment. However, higher education institutions (HEls), government bodies and administrators must frame constructive policies to implement M-Learning in higher education successfully. This paper explores how M-Learning is reshaping higher education in India, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goal 4(SDG 4) objectives and contributing to the nation's educational development. The study involved interviews of teachers in universities in Tier I cities in India. The authors have applied purposive sampling and selected teachers having at least five years' experience of teaching students online. The study indicated that teachers must embed mobile learning as a supplementary tool in their courses and in the teaching and learning pedagogies that they apply. The findings will be helpful touniversities in higher education and their teachers who can design a blended learning approach to embed mobile learning in their courses. The study will be useful to policymakers in education sector to analyzerole of mobile learning in the attainment ofSDG 4. The research will guide HEls in the attainment of SDG4.
