Slot-Optimized Circular Antenna Design for Advanced Applications in Sub-6 GHz 5G and LTE Communications

In this article, we explore a significant innovation in the field of antenna design, focusing on sub-6 GHz frequencies for 5G, with an emphasis on the n77, n78, and n79 bands, as well as the LTE bands 22/42/43/46. Our unique antenna design incorporates a strategic arrangement of slots that form a positive pattern resembling a symbol within a circle, on a substrate FR-4 with dimensions of 25x25x1.6 mm

. The antenna properties were developed through simulations conducted using CST Microsoft Studio Simulation software. The use of these slots to generate inductive and capacitive coupling allows our antenna prototype to effectively cover a frequency range from 3 to 6 GHz. Furthermore, we have adopted the Defected Ground Structure (DGS) technique to optimize bandwidth and improve antenna performance, resulting in a remarkably low S11 below -10 db. This innovative configuration is ideal for a variety of applications, including Wi-Fi, WLAN, LTE, and sub-6 GHz 5G communication, thereby offering a promising method to enhance performance in wireless communication systems.
