A Web-Based Link Budget Tool for 5G mmWave Systems with Repeater Integration

The fifth-generation (5G) wireless access network 5G NR has resulted in interesting new use cases. For instance, the availability of new spectrum in the FR2 frequency range (mmWave), characterized by their high bandwidth, makes them particularly suited for Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) applications. However, these frequencies bring along signal propagation challenges. The integration of mmWave repeaters has become increasingly crucial in leveraging this spectrum. This research introduces a link budget web application. Grounded in real-world hardware specifications from leading vendors and emphasizing the role of repeaters, the tool offers valuable insights tailored for mm-wave repeater deployments. Shedding light on the power dynamics of 5G mmWave systems facilitates informed decision-making for optimal system configurations, bridging the chasm between theoretical models and practical implementations.
