Chapter Abstract:
Summary
Metals and their polymeric composites presents high electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness, and thus dominate the EMI shielding materials. Metal nanowires possess high conductivity and good flexibility. This chapter reviews the recent achievements on scalable syntheses of silver nanowires (AgNWs) and fabrication of shielding materials based on silver nanowire/polymer conductive composites. It describes the basic properties of the shielding materials based on silver nanowire/polymer conductive composites, such as the electrical properties, morphological properties, and EMI properties. As a face‐centered cubic metal, silver has the intrinsic driving force for the growth of an isotropic structure in terms of thermodynamics. In general, AgNWs were deposited on the surface or embedded into the body of polymers to form a conductive composites. EMI shielding effectiveness increases more rapidly than electric conductivity does, because not only conductivity but also the reflection area could affect the shielding effectiveness.
