loT Based Prototype for Monitoring the Elderly

Part of the Honduran elderly population lives in nursing homes for the elderly, and another part is dependent on the care of relatives, external personnel, or lives completely alone. In any case, there is no monitoring of vital signs in real time, nor a system to know the physical location or detection with alarms to notify their families if they had suffered a fall. The objective of the research is to develop an initial prototype of a wearable device for monitoring the health status of the elderly. Following the V-Methodology, in 4 stages from component selection to final testing. Each of these stages has a success criterion. As a final result, measures of health parameters of older adults were obtained, involving cardiac frequency, oxygen saturation, temperature within normal ranges. As well as plane axes to identify falls and directions with GPS without any inconvenience. All stored and visualized in an loT platform with alerts linked to a mobile application.
