Chatbot for Validation of Research Topics for Engineering Students

This project aims to automate queries through a web platform within the university, allowing students to interact with it through writing or voice using natural language thanks to artificial intelligence, and be able to ask questions about various topics such as locating places or objects within the university, as well as more specific questions about their career, project topics, or graduation practice, among others. In this way the experience within the university campus will be more enjoyable for students, faculty or staff that can be included as a user of the platform. Allowing the efficiency and effectiveness to ask questions and receive correct answers at the time. For the training, 50 articles indexed in scopus were used, which allowed for effective communication between the interpreter and the user, but with some limitations. The WIT.AI interpreter was able to demonstrate the relevance of some research topics that students can follow as a guide. The development of a web site that allows automation of manual tasks that were previously performed by university staff, such as teachers or advisors, with a platform that serves as a virtual assistant between the system and the end user, with a complex information management, having control at all times of access to this information, was achieved. By designing a voice-operated system strategically located throughout the university's facilities, students are guaranteed to be able to ask questions and receive answers in real time. This facilitates interaction between students and the application, improving the response time. Future work is needed to augment and automate more training items.
