Real-Time Assessment of Maturity by Microfiber Shaped Ipscs-Derived Cardiac Tissue

This paper describes a real-time maturity evaluation system of cardiac tissue with a conduction velocity (CV). A microfiber-shaped cardiac tissue enables easy measurement of CVs by the one-way transmission of signals over a long distance. In addition, CVs can be calculated real-time only with a change in fluorescent intensity, thanks to a visualization of electrical conduction by GCaMP. We measured CVs over 6 days to assess the maturation of the same cardiac tissue in real-time. Our system of maturity evaluation would contribute to the development of a matured cardiac model for elucidating the pathology of cardiac diseases and drug effects.
