Plant-On-A-Chip Technologies and its Applications

Microfluidics, or lab-on-a-chip devices have been applied in the last three decades, especially in medical and health research fields. Recently, the lab-on-a-chip applications in plant science are emerging due to the expectation for a deeper understanding of the plants from various viewpoint including physics and chemistry. Socalled "plant-oh-a-chip" technologies enable us to precisely control surrounding environment of growing plants with high space and time resolution and discover new biological phenomena occurring in places where we cannot directly observe, such as inside plants or organs in soil. This paper introduces the latest researched related to the plant-on-a-chip applications.
