Metal-Organic Framework and Molybdenum Oxide Hybridized Nanocomposite-Based Triboelectric Biomotion Sensor for Wearable Self-Powered Human IOT Applications

Herein, an orthorhombic molybdenum oxide (α-MoO
3
) nanowire and metal-organic framework (MOF-525) decorated MOF-525@Silicone@α-MoO
3
nanocomposite based stretchable triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) is implemented for self-powered wearable biomotion monitoring. The prepared MOF-525@α-MoO
3
enhances the capacitance and provides strong charge accumulation due to the synergistic effect between the heterostructure network and improved charge density of the nanocomposite. Also, by including oxygen atoms, and a large internal surface area, hybridized tribo-materials increase the charge-trapping and charge-inducing ability. Knitted fabrics provide flexible electrodes and a 3D-printed microstructure improves contact area. The resulting self-powered wearable biomotion sensor (SPWBS) exhibited ultrahigh stretchability (245%), sensitivity (105.18 V/KPa), and power density (18.3 W/m
²
). The SPWBS was successfully demonstrated for real-time, non-invasive skin-level biomotion sensing and joint-associated activity monitoring via smartphone applications.
