A Breathable Capacitive Humidity Sensor Based on Electrospun PVDF/GO Composites

This paper proposes a flexible capacitive humidity sensor based on electrospun polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) / graphene oxide (GO) composites and a hydrophobic porous polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) substrate. The influences of the GO ratio and the electrospinning time on the performance of humidity sensors are investigated to achieve a balance between static and dynamic properties. The results show that the sensor with 2wt% GO and 30min electrospinning time exhibits a high sensitivity of ~67.5fF/%RH and a fast response / recovery time of 3.9s/1.9s. Furthermore, the breath monitoring of the sensor is also studied, and the sensor shows accurate breath identification at different breathing speeds. The optimized sensor shows good application prospects in real-time breath monitoring.
