In-Vitro Microfluidic Model For Sepsis-Associated Acute Kidney Injury With Single Cell Imaging

We developed a microfluidic device for an in vitro model of the cellular microenvironment in sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (S-AKI), enabling drug delivery to single cells, imaging their responses, and reconstruction of renal microtissues. The device was evaluated by exposing single tubular cells to lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation, resulting in the dissociation of the cells and leakage of an aqueous solution, similar to the in vivo disease state. The device has the potential to reproduce the kidney microenvironment, which will lead to an effective treatment strategy for S-AKI.
