Implementation of Seven-Level Asymmetrical Multilevel Inverter for Solar PV Application

As a result of their clean and ecologically friendly nature, photovoltaic (PV) systems are rapidly being utilized as power generators all over the world. The majority of consumers in the domestic market are interested in earning money by selling the power that solar panels produce to the grid. An integral circuit in the process of connecting solar panels' generated power to the grid is the inverter. In this paper, a seven-level asymmetrical multilevel inverter is proposed and implemented in a grid-connected solar PV system application for exporting solar power to the single-phase grid. This article explains the proposed asymmetrical multilevel inverter operation, the switching states, and the current routes associated with each state. The proposed inverter is implemented in a solar grid-connected system, and observe the performance of the grid-connected solar system at different solar irradiances. At different solar irradiance conditions, the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the inverter output current is presented. Simulations carried out in MATLAB 2022a serve to validate the proposed solar PV system. This article compiles and presents all of the most important results.
