Prototype Development for Water Leakage Monitoring System with RTOS Implementation

Efficient water distribution network management is essential for sustainable water resource utilization and minimizing losses. The current state of leak detection in water distribution systems primarily lacks the integration of Real-Time Operating System (RTOS). Many existing systems rely on conventional methods without the benefits of RTOS, resulting in limitations in time responsiveness and precision. This research fills this gap by presenting a unique method that takes advantage of an RTOS, specifically the RTX Kernel, to improve monitoring and control. This divergence from typical approaches enables real-time data processing, resulting in rapid and accurate leak detection. An ARM Cortex-M3 board is employed in conjunction with YF-S201 flow sensors for monitoring water flow and Water Leakage Detection (WLD) cables to precisely pinpoint leak locations. The dynamic integration of these sensors results in accurate leak detection, thereby providing a robust solution for water distri-bution systems. The collected data is then transmitted remotely to a mobile application for further analysis and proactive leak prevention. The use of the ARM Cortex-M3 board facilitates efficient communication and processing of sensor data, optimizing the overall performance of the system. The research findings demonstrate significant improvements, showcasing the effective-ness of the RTOS-based solution in enhancing operational effi-ciency, reducing water loss, and strengthening network resilience. By offering real-time data processing and control actions, this approach contributes to sustainable water management practices and underscores the importance of advanced technologies in addressing challenges in water distribution systems.
