Problems of Using PLC Technology in Industrial Systems in the Context of Digitalization

This article updates PLC (Power Line Communication) technologies for industrial systems in the context of digitalization and shows the demand for data transmission systems in PLC networks. To implement a PLC network, it is necessary to connect components of industrial systems via PLC adapters; the advantages of using PLC adapters are presented. Problems when using a PLC network have also been updated. Research has been carried out on data transfer between two PLC adapters in different connection schemes and at different distances. Research has shown that the highest data transfer speed can be achieved in a network connected through an electrical noise filter. Without an electrical noise suppressor (ENS), the transmission speed dropped several times. It was also revealed how the data transfer speed depends on the distance between PLC adapters in for different connection schemes.
