Design, Analysis and Fabrication of a Bio-Inspired Leaf-Shaped Antenna for Wireless Applications

A microstrip leaf-shaped antenna refers to a specific type of microstrip antenna design that incorporates a leaf-shaped radiating element. This antenna is designed to capture and transmit electromagnetic waves. These antennas are known for their low-profile lightweight nature, and ease of integration into various electronic devices. In this research, a compact leaf-shaped patch antenna for 2.4 GHz is designed, simulated, analyzed and fabricated. A leaf-shaped microstrip patch antenna is inspired by nature. Return loss, VSWR and gain are studied in the antenna design using the High-Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) software. The antenna shows a maximum return loss of −40.94 dB at 2.37GHz frequency usingFR4 epoxy substrate. This designed antenna has a gain of 5.05dB.
