The Impact of Gamified Digital Badges on Repetitive Learning: Validating the Potential for Repetitive Learning through Analysis of Intrinsic Motivation

This study explores the impact of digital badges on repetitive learning and intrinsic motivation among college students learning Japanese. Participants were divided into three groups: a control group, a group receiving material rewards, and a group receiving digital badges. The online game content encouraged learners to reinforce their knowledge through repeated practice. The significance of this study lies in uncovering the effectiveness of digital badges as motivational incentives compared to traditional rewards and no incentives. The findings provide valuable insights into enhancing learner engagement and optimizing educational practices. This research contributes to the expanding field of gamification and the role of digital badges in motivating learners, with implications for fostering lifelong learning behaviors and improving learning outcomes across various educational contexts.
