An Investigation on the Status Quo and Improvement Path of Students' Digital Literacy in Local Universities

This study aims to investigate the status quo of digital literacy level of local university students, and on this basis to explore whether different groups of university students are facing digital divide. A survey was conducted on the digital literacy status of 120 college students from a local university in western Guangdong, China, through online questionnaires. Descriptive analysis, difference testing, and pearson correlation test were used to analyze the data. The results show that the digital literacy of local university students is generally good, but their content and creative ability are insufficient. There is a digital divide among local university students in gender and grade, but no significant positive relationship between the duration of electronic device use and digital literacy. Based on the research results, this study proposes four suggestions for cultivating digital literacy: to establish a hierarchical digital literacy system, integrate digital literacy education and subject professional education, expand technology application scenarios and build a multi-party collaborative digital literacy education model.
