DC Fault Characteristics Analysis of Full DC Offshore Wind Farm

Offshore wind power is the key to achieve carbon neutrality goal, and full DC scheme is a competitive choice for offshore wind farm integration. However, there are little researches focus on the DC fault characteristics of the full DC scheme. This paper firstly develops the equivalent converter model for fault characteristics analysis. Then the equivalent model of full DC offshore wind farm is derived. Based on fault path analysis, the fault development mechanism of full DC system is discussed. A full DC offshore wind farm is built in PSCAD/EMTDC and the validity of the proposed equivalent model proved by comparing the simulation results and analytical results.
