Research on the Stage Division Standard for the Transient Response in Active Distribution Networks

With the increasing integration of a significant number of Inverter-Based Distributed Generators (IBDGs), the transient characteristics on the low-voltage distribution network side have undergone substantial changes, rendering traditional stage division standards less applicable. This paper proposes a novel stage division standard for the transient response in Active Distribution Networks (ADNs), serving as a crucial tool for a more profound analysis of the interactions between ADNs and the transmission network. The paper begins by developing an electromagnetic model using a real ADN then performs large disturbance simulations for ADNs at different penetration levels, and introduces a new segmentation criterion based on the external characteristics of ADNs under large disturbances. By formulating mathematical models for the components within the ADN during transient stages, this paper delves into a mechanistic analysis of the external characteristics of ADNs at each phase and identifies key factors influencing the external characteristics in various stages.
