Rural Green Transformation of Energy in a Demonstration County in China

Renewable energy is regarded as a green window to address climate change, strengthen the resilience of the energy system and drive low-carbon economic growth. Therefore, at present, several countries are trying to develop renewable energy and achieve energy transformation. In China, promoting the green transformation of energy in rural areas is not only an inherent requirement to meet the needs of people's better lives but also an important step to implement the rural revitalization strategy and achieve the “Dual Carbon” goals. This paper introduces an experience of a typical agricultural county in green energy transformation from five aspects: energy supply, energy consumption, energy technology, energy system, and the utilization of urban and rural waste for energy. It summarizes the background, measures, achievements, major challenges, and main experiences accumulated. It is expected that those can be regarded as a reference for other regions.
