Review on Carbon Measurement Techniques and Carbon Certification Systems

Reducing carbon emissions is of great significance for mitigating climate change, protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development, and how to scientifically calculate carbon emissions and certify carbon emission reduction activities has become an important part of carbon reduction activities. Currently, there is a varying degree of development in carbon measurement technology internationally, with multiple coexisting carbon certification systems. However, China is still immature in the development of carbon measurement technology and carbon certification system. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the current status of carbon measurement technology and certification systems. It meticulously examines the applicable scenarios, standards, advantages, and disadvantages of various carbon measurement technologies worldwide. Additionally, it explores the policy foundation, certification bodies, and certification standards within the carbon certification system. Then, we analyze the difficulties and challenges of China's carbon measurement technology and carbon certification system, and puts forward targeted policy recommendations which is expected to provide theoretical references.
