The Coordinating Thermal Energy Storage Capacity Planning of Concentrated Solar Power Considering Demand Side Response

As an emerging power generation method, concentrated solar power (CSP) has the same dispatchability as thermal power generation units. It can increase the penetration rate of renewable energy while ensuring grid security and economy, which can play a certain role in promoting the development of the renewable energy industry. Considering the demand-side response, a novel thermal energy storage capacity planning method for concentrated solar power is proposed in this paper. Since the energy storage capacity is closely related to the demand-side response, it is necessary to establish a coordination optimization model which can effectively improve the economy of the system. Lastly, to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, a case study of China western province is provided in this paper.
