Study on Nano-A12O3/Epoxy Composite Coatings to Enhance Surface Flashover

Epoxy micron composite dielectric materials are widely used in power equipment, especially in gas insulated switchgear (GIS). However, under DC high-voltage conditions, epoxy resin insulators under the action of electric field will occur surface charge accumulation, so that the nearby electric field distortion caused surface flashover, threatening the power system and the safe operation of electrical equipment. Curing coating on the surface of epoxy micrometer composite dielectric material are considered to be one of the effective measures to improve the flashover voltage along the surface, for this reason, this paper adopts the coating method, the nano-A1
2
O
3
/EP composite coating is coated on the surface of the micrometer epoxy composite matrix, and respectively, DC flashover experiments were carried out in SF6 under 0.1 MPa, as well as the surface potential attenuation experiments. The experimental results show that the flashover voltage in the specimen containing nano-A1
2
O
3
/EP coating is enhanced by 14.57% compared with the matrix, and its surface potential decay rate is also enhanced.
