Operation Strategy of Integrated Wind-Solar-Hydrogen-Storage System as VPP in Electricity Market

With the continuous construction of China's electricity market, promoting renewable energy into electricity market is the general trend. Scaled hydrogen production using renewable energy is emerging recently. This paper innovatively proposes an integrated wind-solar-hydrogen-storage system as virtual power plant (VPP) to participate in electricity market. With the goal of maximizing revenue, VPP gives full play to the advantage of highly adjustable electrolysis load, and adopts the ratio of products flexibly. The strategy improves the overall revenue of the project by 3.5%-37.8%, and achieves relatively continuous and stable hydrogen supply at the same time. On this basis, this paper discusses the influence of hydrogen price and flexibility of electrolysis system on the strategy of VPP in depth. This paper provides a technical solution to the low profitability and unstable hydrogen supply in green hydrogen projects, which strongly support the development of hydrogen industry.
