Determination of Safe Inspection Range of Transmission Line UAVs

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been widely employed for transmission line inspection, significantly enhancing the operational efficiency of power transmission. During inspections, UAVs are susceptible to interference from power frequency electric fields. To mitigate the electromagnetic interference caused by the power frequency electric fields, a 500 kV double-circuit overhead transmission line simulation model was constructed. Utilizing the method of controlling variables, the distribution patterns of electric fields under different directions of the same phase and different phases in the same direction were analyzed. This analysis helped determine the safe operational range for UAVs in proximity to transmission towers. Based on this range, the transmission tower model was simplified to establish waypoints for the UAVs, thereby improving the efficiency and safety of the UAV inspection process.
