Analysis of the 500kV Line Arrester Exploion Accident

This paper introduces an explosion accident of a 500kV line arrester. The whole fault process is deduced according to the fault recording diagram and the correctness of the fault process is verified by simulation calculation. Finally, it is concluded that the explosion fault of lightning arrester is caused by the multiple lightning shocks in a short time, accumulation effect of long-term thermal aging and the increase of power frequency voltage caused by reclosing. It is suggested that the live detection and operation inspection of the line should be strengthened.
