2-DOF Mass Spring Damper System Analysis of Electric Vehicle Using Closed-Loop PID Controller

The car is a means of land transportation that is very important for modern human life. One of the comfort factors of driving a car is its suspension system. With a good suspension system, when shocks hit the car, the car will remain stable. This research will propose a way or approach to designing a car suspension system for electric vehicles through an optimal control approach using the Closed-Loop PID Controller method. The car for which the suspension system will be designed is modeled in a mathematical equation, and then the parameters for the suspension system that are right for the car will be designed. The suspension system consists of two masses, two springs, and two dampers. The design is carried out with the help of Simulink software to obtain the required control parameters. The results obtained from this study are graphs of body displacement response using PID and without PID in any various input roads. Based on the simulation with the Simulink software, it was found that the designed suspension system had satisfactory performance or the condition of the car was relatively stable.
