An Accelerated Algorithm for Estimating Wake Interactions Between Wind Turbines with FLORIDyn

Estimating the wake effect between wind turbines necessitates finding a delicate balance between accuracy and efficiency, a task that is often challenging due to the need to compute the radial distribution of wakes while also accounting for the effects of turbulence intensity and height differences. In this paper, an accelerated algorithm that utilizes the Gaussian Floridyn model is designed to estimate the wake effects between wind turbines. To achieve efficiency without affecting accuracy, the proposed algorithm reduces the search region of observation points and modify the FLORIDyn workflow to obtain wake influences among wind turbines while omitting irrelevant momentary emulation of massive observation points. Numerical tests are conducted on both a standard three-turbine case and a practical onshore wind farm to validate the correctness and efficiency of the proposed approach.
