A Dispatch Model for Integrated Rural Energy Systems Considering Load Flexibility

Combined heat and power (CHP) units can realize combined heat and power with high energy utilization and good economic performance. However, the non-synchronization of electricity and heat loads in integrated rural energy systems (IRES) has prevented the good economic performance of CHP units from being fully utilized, in order to fully exploit the demand-side flexibility, a dispatch model for an IRES considering load flexibility is proposed to further improve the economy of IRES operation. The model of the greenhouse heat load flexibility is based on the cumulative temperature theory of crops and the model of livestock farm heat load flexibility is based on the flexible requirements of animal welfare for livestock farm ventilation. Then, the worst-case conditional value at risk (WCVaR) is utilized to evaluate real-time dispatch costs and to construct a dispatch model with the sum of energy production costs, demand response incentive costs, and WCVaR-based real-time dispatch costs as the objective function, taking into account the rural load flexibility constraints, the WCVaR-related constraints, and other component operating constraints. Finally, the validity of the model proposed in this chapter is verified by an arithmetic example analysis.
