A Capacity Planning Methodology for Power System Flexibility Resources Considering Flexibility Demand

Rational planning of flexibility resources is very important for the reliable operation of new power system with a high proportion of new energy sources. In order to ensure that the power system can be operated safely and economically, it is necessary to quantitatively assess the flexibility demand of the power system and carry out the capacity planning for various types of flexibility resources. In this paper, the net load distribution curve of power system is established firstly, and the flexibility demand quantification method is proposed combined with the baseline output scheme. Then, the regulation ability of various types of flexibility resources is analyzed, and the capacity planning model of flexibility resources is constructed. Eventually, the validity and efficiency of the model is verified by referring to the example planning of a certain regional power grid setup. The results show that the planning scheme can fully take into account the regulation characteristics of various types of resources, combine with the flexibility demand of the system and obtain the optimal planning results.
